Hello SQUARES!

It's time for another update. I've been a little under the weather, but am feeling better after a few days of rest. Today we talk about three topics: BackerKit, retail packaging, and color developing kit. 

This update is more "general" in nature. It's been about a week since I last addressed the community and it seemed like a good time to share the current progress of events. Although nothing major is announced here, it is good to know that everything is currently on schedule.

Now What? BackerKit Survey & Fulfillment Partner + Our Next Three Steps

Thank you for Bringing Back the Box! 

A few things need to happen before we can kick off production and fulfillment. Here's a quick rundown: 

First, Kickstarter needs to transfer over the funds so we have the money to make the rewards (this can take up to two-four weeks). 

Second, I have to send out backer surveys so you can make any necessary reward choices, verify shipping information, and choose any add-on's that you may like (like camera strap, additional Lens-Cartridge, etc.).

I have partnered with BackerKit to streamline your surveys. BackerKit provides me with the tools necessary to give you the best fulfillment process possible. 

I'll send out a BackerKit survey to collect this information in about four weeks (around middle of March). Don't worry, I'll give you a heads-up before I send the survey so that you can watch for it. You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. The invitation email contains a link to your personal survey. It is important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since we need this information to process your rewards. 

Third, I will begin setting up the production line right way. This process is involved, but while you're completing your surveys and Kickstarter is collecting the pledges raised, I'll be working on getting everything readyfor the developer preview to ship and Backer production to begin. 

We are still on track to begin shipping in late July.

Some important notes:

 If you need to change your survey responses, purchase add-on items, or update your shipping information, you can click the link in your survey email again or request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page. (This page will only start working after we send the surveys out.) 

If you prefer, you can contact me directly and give me your information, but answering your survey helps me get your rewards out to you faster. BackerKit helps me save lots of time by streamlining the survey process, automating data organization, and providing us with pledge management software to make it easy to process your pledge reward shipments. 

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey link is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. 

If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact me.

Backer Update #6: What's next, NuBox 120 Pre-Orders, and Nerding out over Shutter Speed!

Hey Squares!

There's 70 hours left to back the box! We've accomplished so much. I bet some of you are wondering what happens next. Well, I'm here to tell you, we are just getting started.

Making NuBox viable as a brand and Hamm Camera as a company requires a lot more than just one successful Kickstarter. You backed the box and got us off the ground. Now it's my turn.

NuBox will continue to be available for preorder as NuBox 120 over on Indigogo and online at Hamm Camera. The special NuBox 1 design will be retired, and the retail price of the boxes will increase by $20 each. This will allow NuBox to continue to gain momentum and drive awareness of the brand. Don't forget that we want to continue to generate revenue to fuel our marketing and research.

Are you ready to geek out with me? I hope so. Rotary shutters are really interesting and one of the reasons I love NuBox so much. The shutter design makes it possible to do almost anything. It's a really great development platform because it's simple to design on. 

I think what interests me the most are the variable timings that different rotor openings designs offer. This leaves things wide open, and it's where our commitment to the Maker community comes in. I am excited to begin opening up forums in the weeks after the campaign. I look forward to interaction with the community, and the shared purpose we have.

Backer Update #5: Project Updates, Backer Question answered, and a Q for you!

Hello Squares,

In this video we talk about three things:

1- Thank you's and project updates: I'm working on a strap design, bulb mode, and tripod mount. Each upgrade is coming along nicely. Help me out by answering the question about the strap down below.

2- Ask and answered: John emailed me and asked if the lens in the cartridge could be changed out as easily as the viewfinder lenses in the front plate. Unfortunately, no. The lens is held in the cartridge at a specific length (95mm from the rear element). 

For example, if you were to swap a wide angle lens, such that had a 65mm focal length, then (even if the lens fit in the front of the cartridge), the length of the cartridge would be 30mm too long to match the focal length of the wide angle lens. Thus, each lens element would need its own cartridge.

3- Q for you: How would you like to carry the camera when on a strap: vertical or horizontal?
